Business First will recognize dozens of Western New York women this week at the Women of Influence awards.

Just last week, Business First held its second annual HR Leadership awards. Various companies were recognized for their human resources initiatives and leadership.

Blue Cross Blue Shield sponsored the event. Melissa Tucker, vice president of talent management with BCBS, spoke to the crowd about human resources executives helping their business be successful, but also impacting the community.

"I think that's the reason so many HR professionals today enjoy their role more, because it's not one dimensional," she said. "They're able to work with their colleagues and contribute to the business and see the difference they are making on a daily basis."

And now, Tucker herself will be an award recipient. She is one of the Women of Influence winners. She has worked in human resources for four decades and has spent the last six in her current role.

The awards will be held Tuesday at Salvatore's Italian Gardens. Tickets are already sold out.
