BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Minnesota Avenue was crowded with friends and family who came to honor the memory of Buffalo's latest homicide victim.

23-year-old Samantha Cothran was shot and killed while leaving a party early Sunday morning on Minnesota Avenue. 22-year-old Joshua Parker was also struck, and is recovering in a hospital.

Cothran was recent college graduate and had plans to possibly become a pharmacist. She had celebrated her 23rd birthday on Saturday.

"Her life was taken..for no reason. She did nothing wrong," said Norvella Pendergrass, who knew Samantha for the past ten years and was with her just hours before she was shot.

Those that came to celebrate her life at a prayer vigil Tuesday night say her smile and love touch many in the community.

"It was amazing to see how many people she touched in the City of Buffalo and beyond that," said Pendergrass.
