The Buffalo National College Fair is giving area students a jump start on college. Nearly 10,000 high school students from across WNY took part in the event, which ran yesterday and runs from 9am to noon today, Wednesday.

More than 200 college reps from across the country, even as far away as Hawaii, talked to curious high school students about the college experience.

Co-Chair Maryanna Fezer says the personal interaction is something you can't get online. "Reading online, reading a book, checking the internet, but in person you can ask questions pertaining to you; you can get a feel for the school through that college rep so it's definitely a good step, "she said. "The next step to go to visit the college."

Students scanned barcodes at each college booth they were interested in so the colleges will follow up with them about those visits.
