NYS (WKBW) - The State Education Department is warning high school students to leave their cellphones at home next week during regents exams.

The department says any student caught with any electronic device will be given a zero on the test, even if the phone is kept in their pocket or backpack.

Under the previous rules, students were allowed to bring phones and electronic devices into the exam rooms, as long as they were stored under the desk during testing.
