Orchard Park, NY

There were lots of tears and emotion in Orchard Park Town court Friday coming from 21 year old Sean Keenan's friends who came to court to support him during his felony hearing.

Keenan is being charged with second-degree murder in the death of his father, 70 year old John Keenan. He has plead not guilty to the crime.

Police say Sean killed his father inside their Hillsboro Drive home in Orchard Park on Monday, July 7, 2014.

Sources say the father was beaten and/or stabbed to death.

Police found Sean Keenan at the Canadian Border on Monday after he tried crossing using his father's passport.

But Keenan's supporters in court Friday had nothing but positive things to say about their friend.

They describe Keenan as being a victim who lived in a very troubled home.

"Sean is a great friend. Sean has always been there for me and anybody that I'm friends with, anyone who needed anything, anybody that looked to Sean, asked Sean for help, Sean was always there," said Josh Smyth.

"I mean some of us don't even know what happened really, exactly what happened, and we all just need to be patient and wait for the truth to come out basically," said Nikiya Garza Sean's ex-girlfriend.

John Keenan was married but friends in court Friday tell Eyewitness News that his wife was not able to make it to court but did not say why but confirm that the victim's other son, Sean's brother, was in court.

The felony hearing was adjourned until July 24th at 5pm in Orchard Park Town Court. However, the case is expected to go to a grand jury.
