CHEEKTOWAGA, NY (WKBW) - Jennifer West, who lost her husband Ernie when Flight 3407 crashed in Clarence Center more than four years ago, is making another trip to Washington, D.C. to advocate for tougher air safety guidelines.

"We're going to meet with the new Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and we want to introduce ourselves to him.," she said.

West and about 20 other members of the group Families of Flight 3407 are pushing the FAA to meet an October deadline to implement new airline safety rules.

The rules are part of the Airline Safety Act, which was passed by Congress in 2010.

Some of the rules, requiring co-pilots receive more training, were implemented earlier this month, years overdue.
