It's not always easy to calorie count, especially around the holidays, but as we head into this party season, keep in mind that some calories are better than others.
Dietitians say when you approach the holiday dinner buffet, stay away from
things like candy, cookies, and processed foods.
These are calorie-heavy, but provide very little nutrients, so if you're hoping to maintain your weight or even lose a couple of pounds during the holidays, choose nutrient-dense foods.
They contain things like protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, but
with few calories.
In other words, raid the vegetable tray, instead of the Christmas cookie jar!
