Facebook is getting a makeover!
Yesterday, Facebook unveiled a completely new design, the first since the launch of the Facebook Timeline at the end of 2011.
The new design was unveiled at a live press conference at Facebook headquarters in California. The new "News Feed" will be a consolidated version of the one we've grown accustomed to. It features three major components:
-Larger images, thumbnails, maps,
-Categorical "feeds" for different groups like music, sports, specific friends, etc.
-Mobile Consistency, meaning the transition from operating it from your computer to your phone is easier.
Though Facebook claims the new design will be easier to operate, some local users are a bit hesitant about the change.
"I think it's kind of annoying because you can't find what you want to do," said Facebook user Jaynee Van Wormer. "I dont know. It just makes it more difficult to use.
"Yeah it's a little frustrating," said Meghan McCallum. "I think I rely on it a lot so I hope it doesn't get changed so that I can't use it anymore."
"I just like the old way so I don't think it's going to be a good idea," said avid user Lyndsay Chitton.
The new look is a radical departure from the Facebook we all know and love, but CEO Mark Zuckerberg ensured yesterday he wants "to give everyone in the world the best possible newspaper they can."
The desktop version of the new design will begin rolling out today, and after receiving feedback from users, it will slowly transition to the masses over the next few weeks.
