Exclusive Interview with Friday Morning Fire Recue Hero

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - A man on his way to work this morning risked his own life to save a stranger from her burning home. The man spoke Exclusively with Eyewitness News.

A fire broke inside the South Division Street home around 7:15 a.m. Friday.

Rishawn Sonubi, who works around the corner at the architectural firm of Young and Wright, spotted the smoke as he drove to the office.

As Sonubi was calling 911, he noticed a woman screaming for help.

The woman was taken to ECMC where she is in critical condition.

She is being identified by friends as Ann Bond, an elderly woman who was in the process of recovering from a stroke. Members from her church came to her home to help this morning and were thankful to hear about the rescue attempt.

The fire is still under investigation.
