Orchard Park (WKBW) It's the number one question for the Bills with the regular season opener just over a week away. The status of EJ Manuel.

The rookie QB was on the field on Thursday night prior to the Bills exhibition finale against the Detroit Lions at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Manuel, dressed in shorts, threw a few passes during warmups. It was the first time he'd done so in public since the "the minor procedure" to his knee.

Manuel's availability for the season opener remains uncertain. He has yet to practice. Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo spoke with Bills President and CEO Russ Brandon prior to the game. "It's really in the doctor's hands at this point.", said Brandon. "EJ's going through the process and the rehab process coming off his procedure. We'll just play it by ear and see, as coach Marrone said, see where he stands next week and see if he's available", continued Brandon.

Bills Head Coach Doug Marrone has said that as it stands Jeff Tuel would get the start against the Patriots week one. Tuel did not play against the Lions on Thursday night. Matt Leinart got the start against Detroit.
