BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Buffalo Police and Mayor Byron Brown are crediting the police surveillance cameras and helpful eyewitnesses for the quick arrest of a suspect in a dangerous hit-and-run.

The dramatic video released by police on Monday shows a driver striking a pedestrian and sending him flipping through the air.
The driver came within inches of hitting two other pedestrians.
Police say the incident took place around 3:00 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, May 3 at the corner of Letchworth and Grant street.
Thanks to the video, police say they were able to catch up to the suspect, 19-year-old Tornubari Gbaraba within minutes.
"He was apprehended a short time later by Buffalo Police on Vermont street. He was arrested and charged with Assault in the 1st degree, Reckless driving and fleeing a police officer,"said Buffalo Police Commissioner Dan Derenda.
Amazingly the victim, 18-year-old Victor Jerez was okay. He was treated for several injuries at ECMC and released a short time later.
Police say they do not believe alcohol played a role in the incident, but are not yet sure if the victim was targeted by the driver.
