Warning: Video may be disturbing to some viewers

The dramatic video released by police on Monday shows a driver striking a pedestrian and sending him flipping through the air.

The driver came within inches of hitting two other pedestrians.

Police say the incident took place around 3:00 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, May 3 at the corner of Letchworth and Grant street.

Thanks to the video, police say they were able to catch up to the suspect, 19-year-old Tornubari Gbaraba within minutes.

"He was apprehended a short time later by Buffalo Police on Vermont street. He was arrested and charged with Assault in the 1st degree, Reckless driving and fleeing a police officer,"said Buffalo Police Commissioner Dan Derenda.

Amazingly the victim, 18-year-old Victor Jerez was okay. He was treated for several injuries at ECMC and released a short time later.

Police say they do not believe alcohol played a role in the incident, but are not yet sure if the victim was targeted by the driver.
