Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - Many people woke up in the dark to howling winds on Monday morning.

At its peak, National Grid reported more than 35-hundred customers in Western New York without power. The bulk of outages were reported in Erie and Chautauqua Counties.

Strong winds brought down trees and tree limbs across the region, and even snapped a wind turbine.
