Could Government Shutdown Affect WNY

Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) - Many people in Western New York and across the country are wondering about the consequences of a government shutdown.

Studies indicate it would cost taxpayers $2 billion.

800,000 federal employees who have been deemed "nonessential" are waiting to learn if they will have to report to work on Tuesday and worry about the possibility of not being paid.

The deadline is Monday at midnight.

And while nothing is certain yet, if both sides continue down the same path, a shutdown will ensue
