BUFFALO (WKBW) More than 100 firefighters coming together to climb for a good cause on Saturday. The goal was to climb the 800 steps up the tallest building in Buffalo, as part of the Fight for Air Climb, all to benefit the American Lung Association.
It's the fourth year for this event held at One Seneca Tower. More than 600 people, including those local firefighters, climbed the 38 stories. All the money raised will go towards supporting research and advocacy work to help prevent and treat lung disease. The goal is to also help participants understand what it's like to suffer from the illness.
"It's definitely hard when you are climbing those stairs and it's great because of unfortunately lung disease. And it gives us a taste of what millions of Americans have to deal with everyday," organizer Analise de Zoete.
The person with the fastest time up those 38 stories clocked in at just around 4 minutes.
The event raised more than one hundred twenty thousand dollars for the American Lung Association.
