Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - The trial for an Amherst mother is set to go to trial on Monday.

Candace Cardagena has been charged with second degree murder. Prosecutors say she killed her eight-year-old daughter back in 2010.

Bianca Cardagena was found dead under a pile of blankets. An autopsy claims she died from asphyxiation, adding that GHB was found in her system.

Cardagena was found unconscious in her backyard.

Evidence is expected to include toxicology reports, DNA and testimony from medical experts.

Cardagena waived her right to a jury trial, meaning Judge Thomas Franczyk will decide if she is innocent or guilty.
