Buffalo Police Strike Force: 100 Days

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - In the first 100 days of the Buffalo Police Strike Force, officers have arrested 1,300 people, issued 6,600 traffic tickets and seized more than $28,000 in cash.

"The unit Strike Force is very simple. It's high visibility, it's high saturation and it's highly mobile," said Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda.

Overall, crime is down 11 percent in the Queen City during the period from January to May compared to the same period last year, said Mayor Byron Brown.

And violent crime is also down.

"From January to June, shooting are down by 40 percent in the City of Buffalo," Brown said.
