A state assemblyman has drafted a new proposal that aims to eliminate the game of football for children.
State assemblyman Michael Benedetto wants to ban children 10-years-old or younger from playing.
Participation in youth-focused football has almost doubled in recent years, and kids as young and 5-years-old are allowed to tackle.
The focus on concussions in football has risen in recent years because of lawsuits faced by the NFL from former players suffering long-term effects of head injuries.
Benedetto's proposal is causing a lot of debate amongst lawmakers and concerned parents.
