21st Century Park Wants Community's Input

This is what the outer harbor looks like today, weed-filled undeveloped land. The renderings you see here are a vision of what the outer harbor could look like. but before any type of ground breaking takes place, the community gets to weigh in on the future look of the 21st Century Park.

Joanne Kohn Chair of the 21st Century Park on the Outer Harbor says " this conceptual rendering is meant to illustrate the exciting possibilities we could have on this 130 acre site. The rendering is meant to further public dialog on the future use of this land for public use."

Members of 20 different organizations in western New York weighed in with ideas for all kinds of public use like kayaking, to sailing to an amphitheater.

"When we look at this park what we see is an instrument for lifting up the quality of life in buffalo and western New York, we see lifting up our public image." says Kohn

Even though It's still just an idea and no money's been raised the Executive Director of Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper Jill Jedlicka says its time to start the conversation now.

"The importance of starting to talk about this now even before a formal process starts is some other key decisions and conversations that are going on related to other nearby parcels and we really want to look at this from a holistic point of view not piecemeal because its the entirety of the Outer Harbor if its planned correctly which makes it that world class."

Do you have a good idea for the outer harbor? The group wants to hear from you, visit http://21stcenturypark.org/ to view the renderings and give your opinion.
