PENDLETON, NY (WKBW) - Niagara County Sheriff's Deputies are searching for suspects in a holiday break-in at a church in Pendleton.

Someone stole as much as $20,000 in holiday donations collected during services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Tom Kraft, senior pastor at Pendleton United Methodist Church, said the discovery was made on Monday.

"To tell you the truth our congregation is quite in shock," he said.

There are no signs of forced entry, according to Kraft, who said those responsible knew exactly where to look for the money.

"They might have had a key. They might have left a door ajar. They could have hidden in the church," Kraft said. "So it could be any of those possibilities. We really don't know."
