If the Mid-American Conference didn't start having flashbacks to last year's tournament after the University at Buffalo's win in the opening round against Bowling Green, they certainly are beginning to have them now.

The women's basketball team followed suit from what they did last year, shocking a top seed in the quarterfinals and earning a third-straight trip to the MAC Tournament semi-finals. This time, the Bulls upended the second-seeded Ball State 69-65 to move on to the next round.

The Cardinals were with the Bulls all the way through the second half, but they could never find the breakthrough to claim the game as their own. Point guard Stephanie Reid scored UB's last nine points -- seven of which coming from the free throw line -- to seal their second straight tournament victory in 2017.

The Bulls will take on the sixth-seeded Toledo Rockets in the semi-finals, and with a win, they'll have a chance at collecting their second straight conference championship

The bracket is once again wide open after No. 8 Western Michigan knocked off top-seeded Central Michigan in the quarterfinals, in addition to UB taking down No. 2 Ball State.

UB's game against Toledo is scheduled for Friday at 1:30 pm in Cleveland.
