Buffalo elementary school students spent Tuesday learning the fundamentals of basketball with the University at Buffalo Bulls.

The "Basketball 101" clinic took place at the Alumni Arena on the University at Buffalo's North Campus in Amherst.

The fourth-and-fifth-grade students from two Buffalo charter schools worked with the players from the UB Men's and Women's basketball teams, along with Men's coach Nate Oats.

The kids ran drills and practiced basketball techniques while also learning about the importance of developing healthy lifestyle habits and studying hard.

"The athletics look great on TV, but most of these kids don't understand all of these players had to get here through academics," said UB Men's Basketball Coach Nate Oats.

The clinic was created through a partnership between UB, M&T Bank, and the Buffalo Promise Neighborhood.
