Buffalo (WKBW.com) It's a story you saw first on Eyewitness News on Wednesday. Multiple sources tell Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo that former Pittsburgh Penguins executive Ted Black is expected to join the Sabres front office under new owner Terry Pegula.

While it remains unclear what his exact title and responsibilities will be, sources say Black is expected to take on a high level management position.

Sources tell us that Black led "Team Pegula", the group of professionals who advised Terry Pegula on the acquisition process of the Sabres. An official announcement is expected as soon as next week.

Black was the Penguins Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs from 1999-2008. He recently worked as the Senior Vice President/General Manager at Fox Sports Net in Pittsburgh.

The sale of the Sabres from Tom Golisano to Terry Pegula is expected to be finalized by the end of the month. A spokesperson for Mr. Pegula had no comment on Monday.
