New Jersey (WKBW.com) Goaltender Ryan Miller made 27 saves, and Nathan Gerbe scored the game winner in the shootout as the Buffalo Sabres knocked off the New Jersey Devils 2-1 on Tuesday night. The win snapped the Sabres 5-game losing streak. It was also the Sabres first win on the road since December 3rd, ending a 12-game losing skid away from the First Niagara Center.

Jordan Leopold scored the Sabres only goal of the night. Leopold beat Martin Brodeur after a puck bounced off the glass and landed at the side of the net. Leopold tucked it home for his 8th of the season at 16:34 of the first.

Patrik Elias tied the game at 1 for the Devils in the second. Elias scored his 18th of the season on the power play.

The Sabres were out shot 28-14 in the game, but Miller was fantastic. His biggest save of the night came in overtime when he stopped Iyla Kovulchuk on a fantastic chance that could have given the Devils the victory.

Kovulchuk was the Devils first shooter of the shootout and would give New Jersey the lead , but Miller would shut things down the rest of the way. Jason Pominville and Gerbe scored in the shootout for Buffalo.

On the injury front the Sabres announced on Tuesday night that Jochen Hecht is suffering from concussion like symptoms. Lindy Ruff revealed after the game that Hecht suffered the concussion in St. Louis on Saturday, he did not play in New Jersey.
