"We gotta be better at home we know it", said Pominville after the game. "It's nice to get a win for the fans. They at times have been on us alittle bit. We feel the heat where we have to be better at home. We know it. If you want to be a successful team you have to win games at home and to be able to pull one out against a really good team in our conference is nothing but a positive.", said Pominville.

Sabres forward Derek Roy opened the scoring the first period. His 7th of the season put Buffalo up 1-0. Jason Garrison tied the game for Florida on a 5-on-3 advantage at the 15:48 mark of the second period.

The Sabres win did come at a price. Two more players were injured in the victory. Forward Corey Tropp suffered a head injury when he was leveled in the first period by the Panthers Dmitry Kulikov. Tropp left the game and did not return. Forward Jochen Hecht was also injured. Hecht blocked a shot with his foot in the third period. He left the game and also did not return.

The Sabres continue their five game home stand Saturday night against the New York Rangers.
