Ottawa (WKBW.com) If the playoffs started today the Buffalo Sabres would be on the outside looking in. The Sabres dropped to 10th in the Eastern Conference, and could fall to 11th with a win by Winnipeg on Tuesday, following a 4-1 loss in Ottawa.

Jordan Leopold scored the lone goal for the Sabres in the second period. Leopold scored his 6th of the season on the power play to tie the game at one at the 13:12 mark in the second. It was downhill from there for the Sabres in the third.

Erik Condra scored for Ottawa to make it 2-1 Senators at 7:59 of the third. The Senators took advantage of a Sabres turnover on the play.
Paul Gaustad then took a roughing minor at 16:55. Ottawa's Erik Karlsson scored on the resulting power play to make it 3-1 Senators. Condra added an empty net goal at 18:14.

The Sabres then made the trip to Toronto where they will take on the Leafs on Thursday. Buffalo has only one win in the last five games.
