Buffalo (WKBW) Toronto forward Matt Frattin scored his second goal of the game with two seconds left in overtime to lift the Leafs over the Sabres 4-3 on Tuesday night.
The loss spoiled a game in which Sabres rookie Mikhail Grigorenko scored his first NHL goal. The 18-year-old tied the game at three with a backhand shot past James Reimer at 7:10 of the third. Jason Pominville and Andrej Sekera also scored for the Sabres.
Jay McClement opened the scoring for Toronto with a goal at 9:25 of the first period. Frattin scored his first of the game at 3:40 of the second to tie the game at 2, before Cody Franson gave the Leafs a 3-2 lead at 6:21.
The Sabres also lost forward Pat Kaleta during Tuesday's game. Kaleta was hit from behind into the boards by Leafs forward Mike Brown in the first period, left the game and did not return. Sabres Head Coach Lindy Ruff says that Kaleta was taken to the hospital as a precaution because of a neck injury.
The Sabres play in Boston on Thursday.
