DETROIT, MI (WKBW) - A quick start for the Red Wings was enough to send the Sabres to their second straight loss on the road Friday night.

Detroit scored the first three goals of the game, all coming in the first period on Sabres net minder Matt Hackett,

The Sabres got on the board in the second with a power play goal by Jamie McBain. They made it a 3-2 game in the third when Nicolas Deslauriers wristed his first career NHL goal past Jimmy Howard, but it wouldn't be enough.

Hackett stopped 28 of the 31 shots he faced in the loss. Howard stopped 20 of the 22 shots the Sabres sent his way.

Buffalo continues their road trip Sunday when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers.
