Buffalo (WKBW.com) Ilya Kovalchuk scored :53 seconds into overtime as the New Jersey Devils defeated the Buffalo Sabres 1-0 on Wednesday night. The loss dropped the Sabres to 1-2-1 on the season and kept Buffalo winless at home in three straight games.

"Now you realize you have to dig in.", said Sabres Head Coach Lindy Ruff. "Grit your teeth a little, battle a little harder, get a little dirtier, block a few more shots. I think it's how you deal with it. How you react", said Ruff.

Ryan Miller was fantastic in net for the Sabres in the loss. He had 34 saves on the night, and kept Buffalo in the game in the first period when the Sabres were out shot 15-1.

"Another night to bounce back, it just didn't happen", said Miller following the game. "We have to take it to heart, get mad, get on the same page".

The Sabres continue their early season home stand on Friday with a game against Montreal at the HSBC Arena.
