Sabres beat up on bully Bruins

Buffalo (WKBW.com) Three broken ribs forced Sabres Head Coach Lindy Ruff to watch from the press box Wednesday night but his teams effort against the Boston Bruins proved to be the best painkiller available.

Jason Pominville scored twice, and Ryan Miller made 36 saves in a shutout performance, as the Sabres beat the Bruins 6-0 at the First Niagara Center.

The win extended the Sabres points streak to five games.

Ruff, who was injured on Monday, was not behind the bench for the game. Assistant James Patrick was the man in charge and watched Patrick Kaleta play one of his best games of the year.

Kaleta finished with a goal, several hits and a couple of scrums. Including a first period fight with Milan Lucic.

Drew Stafford, Christian Ehrhoff and Tyler Ennis also scored for the Sabres who are 4-0-1 in their last five games. Ville Leino added a pair of assists.

Ruff, who had not been at the First Niagara Center since Monday said that he will have to coach practice from the bench while his ribs heal. He also expects to continue to watch games from the press box/ coaches booth area.

The Sabres host Dallas on Friday.
