March 12, 2012 Updated Mar 12, 2012 at 11:53 PM EDT

Buffalo (WKBW.com) Tyler Myers scored at 2:01 in overtime to give the Buffalo Sabres a 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night. The victory kept the Sabres within arms reach of the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Buffalo is now two points behind 8th place Washington.

Myers played the hero with his overtime goal but it was another Tyler that stole the show for most of the night. Tyler Ennis had a pair of goals for the Sabres. His 9th of the year was as pretty as they come. Ennis skated in on a short breakaway, made several moves, before beating Peter Budaj to tie the game at 1 in the second period. Ennis scored his 10th of the year at 1:50 of the third to give the Sabres a 2-1 lead.

Montreal would not go away easily. The Canadiens would tie it up in the final seconds of regulation when David Desharnais scored his 15th of the season to force overtime with officially :05 remaining.

Erik Cole gave Montreal a 1-0 lead in the first period with his 26th of the season.

The Sabres host Colorado on Wednesday.
