OTTAWA, ONTARIO - (WKBW) Tyler Ennis' goal in the third round of the shootout clinched the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night.

The win keeps the Sabres within two points of the eighth place Washington Capitals in the race for the playoffs.

Erik Condra opened the scoring in the first period. He scored on a shorthanded breakaway.

Nathan Gerbe evened the game at ones about midway through regulation. Erik Karlsson notched his first goal of the game about two minutes later to give the Senators the 2-1 lead. Ennis scored with 18.6 seconds remaining in the second period to send the teams into their dressing rooms deadlocked at two.

Karlsson's second goal of the night gave Ottawa the 3-2 lead in the third period.

But, Marcus Foligno grabbed his first NHL goal late in regulation to knot the game at three.

Jason Pominville and Daniel Alfredsson scored in the shootout before Ennis notched the game-winner.

Ryan Miller made 33 saves for the Sabres. Ben Bishop stopped 38 shots for the Sens.

The Sabres host the Montreal Canadiens on Monday.
