BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The Buffalo Sabres lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night by the final of 5-2. It's the Penguins' 12th straight victory.

Sidney Crosby picked up an assist on Pittsburgh's third goal, an Alex Goligoski tally which deflected into the net, to extend his point streak to 18 consecutive games.

Dustin Jeffrey and Aaron Asham scored the first two goals of the game in the first period to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead. Tyler Ennis tallied a 5-on-3 goal to pull the Sabres within one at the end of twenty minutes.

The game stayed 2-1 into the third period. Goligoski made it 3-1, then less than a minute later, Jason Pominville followed his own shot to once again pull Buffalo within a goal. However, 3:43 later, Mike Rupp got the puck in front of Miller, and poked home some insurance. Matt Cooke added an empty netter for the final goal of the contest.

The Sabres next host the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.
