Buffalo (WKBW.com) Sabres forward Derek Roy hit the ice on Tuesday morning for a solo workout at the HSBC Arena. Roy was on the ice for around 20 minutes and did some light work which included shooting drills near the end of the session. Roy has been out of the lineup since suffering a torn quad tendon on December 23rd.

Sabres Head Coach Lindy Ruff said following the workout that he didn't know Roy was on the ice, and that the session does not change his timetable for a return. Ruff said earlier in the month that a Roy could be a possibility if the Sabres were to make a run in the playoffs.

The rest of the team remained off the ice on Tuesday morning as the 8th place Sabres get ready to host the 7th place New York Rangers at the HSBC Arena. The Sabres will try and bounce back following a 4-3 loss at Toronto on Monday.

Sabres Head Coach Lindy Ruff said on Tuesday morning that Jochen Hecht and Mike Grier will miss the game against the Rangers. Marc-Andre Gragnani will play, along with Matt Ellis who has been called up from Portland.
