Sabres Lose to Leafs

TORONTO, ONTARIO - (WKBW) The Buffalo Sabres are coming back to HSBC Arena on a losing note. They dropped the finale of their seven-game road trip 4-3 to Toronto.

Phil Kessel scored the game-winner 6:36 into the third period. It came just 2:33 after Mikhail Grabovski tied the game at three.

The Sabres' Mike Weber and Toronto's Clarke MacArthur notched first period goals.

After Tyler Bozak gave the Leafs a 2-1 lead in the second period, Jochen Hecht tallied his 12th goal of the season and Jordan Leopold scored a power play goal to give Buffalo a 3-2 lead after two periods. Leopold's goal was his 12th of the season, which is a new career-high for the defenseman.

The Sabres outshot the Maple Leafs 42-29.

Ryan Miller gets the Loss. James Reimer made 39 saves for the win.

The Sabres remain among the Eastern Conference's top eight teams with 74 points. The Carolina Hurricanes lost 3-2 to Columbus on Saturday. The 'Canes are two points back of the Sabres, in ninth place. The Maple Leafs now have 70 points.

The Sabres next host Ottawa, on Sunday, at 5:00 pm.
