Sabres Drop 3rd Straight Game in Columbus

Columbus, OH (WKBW) It was an all around rough night for the Sabres in central Ohio. They never led against the Blue Jackets, who blew them out, 5-1.

Zach Kassian made his NHL debut for the Sabres, called up from Rochester to held the ailing Sabres, dealing with the injury bug.

In the first period, Mark Letestu made his way to the front of the net and smoked home the rebound past Jonas Enroth. Then Rick Nash doubled the Blue Jackets lead on the power play. It was a sign of things to come for the Sabres.

In the second, Mark Methot and RJ Umberger scored just 12 seconds apart to increase the lead to 4-0, and chase Enroth from the game. Theo ne bright spot for the Sabres came in the second, when Jordan Leopold ripped a shot into the top corner, putting the Sabres on the board. Zach Kassian was given an assist on the play, his first career NHL point.

Columbus would score again in the third, to complete their domination of the Sabres, 5-1. Buffalo has now lost three games in a row. The team will host the Washington Capitals Saturday night from the First Niagara Center.
