BUFFALO, NY - (WKBW) The Buffalo Sabres owned the better part of the first half of their game Saturday night against the Phoenix Coyotes. The problem was they didn't bury their chances. Playing their sixth game in nine nights, the Sabres lost to the 'Yotes 4-2.

Thomas Vanek, Derek Roy and Luke Adam all failed to score on point blank opportunities in the opening minutes of the contest. Shane Doane gave the Coyotes a 1-0 lead about seven minutes into the game. Luke Adam tipped a Jordan Leopold shot out of mid-air to tie it at one.

The Sabres took a 2-1 lead less than a minute into the second period as Patrick Kaleta pushed a loose puck over Mike Smith's goalie pad.

But Radim Vrbata and Paul Bissonnette beat Jhonas Enroth with goals 1:06 apart midway through the middle frame.

Vrbata added an empty net goal to clinch the Phoenix win.

Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers did not play the third period. Buffalo Head Coach Lindy Ruff says Myers has an upper-body injury and will be re-evaluated on Sunday.

Enroth made 25 saves for the Sabres. Smith countered with 43 saves for the Coyotes.

The Sabres next host the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.
