Sabres Blown Out in the Windy City

Chicago (WKBW.com) It was another night, another embarrassing loss for the Buffalo Sabres. Chicago forward Jonathan Toews scored twice as the Blackhawks handed the Sabres a 10th straight loss on the road 6-2 on Wednesday.

Sabres captain Jason Pominville scored twice in a losing effort. Pominville opened the scoring with his 16th of the year at 9:30 of the first, before tying the game at 2-2 with a power play goal in the second with his 17th of the season.

The Sabres were hanging in there early in the second period when a ill advised play by Ville Leino seemed to suck the life out of the team. Leino skated into the Blackhawks zone where he attempted a blind between the legs drop pass which became a turnover. Chicago's Duncan Keith then fed Marian Hossa who beat the Sabres Jhonas Enroth to make it 3-2 Blackhawks. The Sabres never recovered.

Jimmy Hayes scored later in the second to make it 4-2 Chicago. Dave Bolland made it 5-2 at 4:11 of the 3rd, before Toews scored his second of the night on the power play at 6:48. Andrew Shaw opened the scoring for the Blackhawks with his 5th of the season to tie the game at 1-1 in the first.

Sabres forward Paul Gaustad left the game with an "upper body injury" in the second period and did not return. Gaustad was hit from behind by Jamal Mayers.

Buffalo dropped to 0-3 on the teams current 7 game road trip which continues on Thursday in Winnipeg.
