Ottawa, Ontario (WKBW) - The Buffalo Sabres shutout the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night 1-0. The game was decided in a shootout. It was the first 1-0 shootout win in Buffalo's franchise history.

Ryan Miller made 32 saves for the Sabres, posting his second shutout in as many nights. Miller blanked Columbus on Friday.

Ottawa's Brian Elliott stopped 31 shots in the loss.

The deciding goal was scored by Thomas Vanek. As the second shooter in the second round of the shootout, Vanek scored the game's only goal as he ripped a slapshot past Elliott.

As the first shooter of the third round, Jason Spezza needed to score to extend the shootout, but he lost control of the puck as he tried to deke Miller.

The Sabres next visit the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.
