Sabres Beat Capitals 4-2

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The Buffalo Sabres scored four first period goals en route to a 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals Monday night.

Jason Pominville (power play), Matt Ellis, and Christian Ehrhoff scored on Buffalo's first six shots, chasing Caps netminder Michal Neuvirth. Brayden McNabb (power play) then scored his first NHL goal on Tomas Vokoun.

Matt Hendricks deflected a puck past Ryan Miller in the second period. Alex Ovechkin notched a power play goal in the third period.

Ryan Miller made 20 saves for the victory.

Sabres forwards Jochen Hecht (foot) and Brad Boyes (ankle) returned to the lineup for Buffalo. Both players had an assist in the game.

The Sabres next visit New Jersey on Wednesday.
