BUFFALO, NY - (WKBW) It was another 2-0 lead after the first period. This time the Sabres extended that lead and held on for victory, beating the Maple Leafs 6-2.
Jason Pominville and Drew Stafford (power play) scored for Buffalo in the first period. Paul Gaustad and Tim Connolly (power play) opened up a 4-0 lead for the Sabres in the second period. Nikolai Kulemin notched a shorthanded tally to end Ryan Miller's shutout at 8:50 of the frame. Drew Stafford scored his second goal of the game before the period was through.
Toronto's Francois Beauchemin and Buffalo's Thomas Vanek scored in the third period.
Miller made 23 saves just one night after the Sabres lost in Pittsburgh 3-2. It was a contest where, like Saturday, they had a 2-0 lead after one period of play.
The Sabres now head south for a game in Tampa on Tuesday and at Florida on Thursday.
