RALEIGH, NC - (WKBW) Marc-Andre Gragnani scored his first NHL goal 2:56 into overtime to give the Buffalo Sabres a 2-1 overtime win over the Carolina Hurricanes. The victory puts the Sabres in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.

Jhonas Enroth stopped 35 shots for Buffalo. The rookie goaltender made his third consecutive start because Ryan Miller is still day-to-day with an upper body injury.

Sabres defenseman Chris Butler opened the scoring in the first period as he scored his first goal of the season.

Eric Staal countered for Carolina in the second period.

The Sabres now have 90 points. That is one less than Montreal and one more than the New York Rangers. Carolina sits in ninth place with 87 points.

Buffalo has three games remaining. They return home home to host Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
