Pominville plays hero, Sabres beat Montreal

Buffalo (WKBW.com) Jason Pominville scored on the power play 1:09 into overtime as the Buffalo Sabres beat the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 on Tuesday night at the HSBC Arena. It was the Sabres first victory over Montreal in four tries this season.



Thomas Vanek and Tyler Ennis assisted on the winner.
Ryan Miller made 29 saves in the victory



Montreal would get out to a 1-0 lead on the power play in the first period. David Desharnais tipped a Roman Hamrlik shot past Miller for his second goal of the season.



The Sabres would tie things up on a power play of their own in the second period. Ennis stuffed home his eleventh of the season to knot things up at 1.



On the injury front Sabres forward Drew Stafford left the game with a groin injury and did not return. Head Coach Lindy Ruff said they would know more about the extent of the injury on Wednesday.



For the Canadiens Forwards Mike Cammalerri left the game in the first period with an upper body injury and did not return. Also injured was Montreal forward Max Pacioretty who was hit in the mid section with a shot by a teammate. Pacioretty had to be helped off the ice, and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
