February 18, 2011 Updated Feb 19, 2011 at 9:00 AM EDT

Buffalo (WKBW.com) It was considered a formality, and now it's a done deal. The NHL board of governors has reportedly voted to approve Terry Pegula as the new owner of the Buffalo Sabres.

Darren Dreger of TSN is reporting that the board voted unanimously in favor of Pegula.

Both the Sabres, and the NHL say they have nothing to announce at this time.

The 189 million dollar transaction now goes to closing. Reports say that Pegula is expected in Buffalo next Tuesday for a news conference.
