Miller Shines, Kaleta Scores, Sabres Take Game One

April 15, 2011 Updated Apr 15, 2011 at 8:00 AM EDT

Philadelphia (WKBW.com) Goaltender Ryan Miller made 35 saves in a shutout effort to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night. The win gives the Sabres a 1-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

Sabres Forward Patrick Kaleta scored the only goal of the game. Kaleta's second career playoff goal came at the 5:56 mark of the third period. Kaleta put home the rebound following a shot by Marc Andre Gragnani.

Miller earned his second career playoff shutout in a tight checking affair. He took advantage of some good play in front of him, and was also helped by a strong night for the Buffalo penalty killers. The Sabres killed off five Philadelphia power plays.

Game two is set for Saturday afternoon back in Philadelphia.
