BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - First-round picks Zack Kassian and Mark Pysysk are among four Sabres prospects that were named to Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp Roster, in an announcement made by Hockey Canada in Toronto Monday.
Marcus Foligno and Brayden McNabb round out the foursome, giving Buffalo an NHL-best four players on the 39 player roster that will take part in Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp from December 12-15 in Toronto. The final roster will be announced at the conclusion of camp, and will represent Canada at the 2011 World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo from Dec. 26-Jan. 5.
Kassian (RW, 6’3, 226 lbs.) picked up his fourth four-point game of the season yesterday, and leads the Windsor Spitfires (OHL) in scoring with 39 points (12+27) in 21 games. Kassian’s 27 assists are also third-best in the OHL.
The 18-year-old Pysyk (D, 6’2”, 182 lbs) was Buffalo’s first-round selection (23rd overall) last June, and has eight assists, 43 PIM’s and a +5 rating in 21 games for the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings.
McNabb (D, 6’5”, 216 lbs.) is among the WHL’s defensive scoring leaders with 17 points (2+15) in just 16 games for the Kootenay Ice. McNabb was selected in the third round (66th overall) in the 2009 Entry Draft.
Foligno (LW, 6’3”, 222 lbs) is tops on the Sudbury Wolves (OHL) with 27 points (12+15) in 24 games, including a league-best 3 shorthanded goals. A fourth-round pick (104th overall) of the Sabres in 2009, Foligno has also chipped in five power play goals.
A limited number of World Junior Hockey Championship All-Session passes are still available in three different categories: Gold (all 31 games at HSBC Arena and Dwyer Arena; $1,240 per ticket), Silver (lower bowl for all 21 games at HSBC Arena; $833) and Bronze (upper bowl for all 21 games at HSBC Arena; $493).
Day passes and mini-packs are also available. A day pass entitles the buyer to see all games played on a specific day at HSBC Arena, and can include two or three games. Day passes will range in price from $80 per ticket (upper bowl) to $300 per seat (lower bowl) depending upon the game day and number of games being played that day. All games involving the U.S. and Canada are available, along with the Gold and Bronze medal games on January 5.
Mini packs that include the Gold medal game start as low as $440 (US) are also on sale now. Fans will have the ability to select individual game days, where they can pick a minimum of four days to see the teams that they want to see play, on the days that are best for them, and at a price level that’s right for their budget. A total of 31 games will be played over 11 days at HSBC Arena, and Dwyer Arena on the campus of Niagara University in Lewiston, NY. Team USA will be in Group A along with Finland, Germany, Slovakia and Switzerland. Group B will feature Canada, Sweden, Russia, Czech Republic and Norway. The Gold Medal game will take place on Wednesday, January 5 at 7:30 p.m.
