Boyes plays the Hero, Sabres beat Boston in OT

Boston (WKBW.com) Brad Boyes scored the winner in overtime as the Buffalo Sabres beat the Boston Bruins 4-3 in comeback fashion on Thursday night. The victory moved the Sabres into 7th place in the Eastern Conference standings. Buffalo is now tied with the New York Rangers with 74 points.



The Sabres had to overcome two deficits to earn the win. Buffalo trailed 2-0 in the second period when Tyler Ennis would get the Sabres on the board with his 15th goal of the season. Thomas Vanek would then tie the game on the power play 6:59 later.



Buffalo trailed 3-2 in the third when they would battle back again. Tim Connolly scored on the power play to tie the game at three. Nathan Gerbe then earned the assist on the game winning goal in overtime, with Boyes putting home a Gerbe rebound past Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas.



Nathan Horton, Mark Recchi, and Gregory Campbell scored for Boston.Ryan Miller made 26 saves for the Sabres in the victory. Drew Stafford left the game with a hamstring injury.



The Sabres wrap up their road trip Saturday in Toronto.
