Sabres Agree to Terms with McCormick

BUFFALO, NY (Sabres) – Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with unrestricted free agent winger Cody McCormick.

McCormick (4/18/1983, 6’3”, 215 lbs.) played his first season with the Sabres organization in 2009-10 after signing as a free agent on August 1, 2009. McCormick skated in three playoff games with the Sabres last season, picking up two assists and 14 PIMs. He finished the regular season with 29 points (17+12) and a team-high 168 PIMs over 66 games with the AHL’s Portland Pirates.

McCormick had previously played in 190 NHL games over parts of five seasons with Colorado from 2003-09, accumulating 30 points (9+21) and 250 PIMs.

Born in London, Ont., McCormick was originally selected by the Avalanche in the fifth round (144th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
