Los Angeles, CA (WKBW.Com) The Buffalo Sabres didn't make any big trades on the opening day of the 2010 draft, but they did add a prospect to their blueline.

The Sabres selected 6'1 1/2, 180 pound defenseman Mark Pysyk with the 23rd overall pick on Friday night. Pysyk scored 7 goals and had 24 points for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL last year. His season was cut short by a broken foot, but he still managed to earn team MVP honors. While not known for his scoring, Pysyk is regarded as a solid, and reliable defenseman with good feet.

The Sabres have 8 picks to play with on day two of the NHL draft.
