WINDSOR, ON (WKBW) -- Officials at the Windsor Police Department in Windsor, Ontario have confirmed with Eyewitness Sports that Sabres 2009 first round draft pick Zack Kassian has been charged with assault.

The arrest comes after an incident in Windsor that took place early Sunday morning.

Sgt. Brett Corey of the Windsor Police Dept. says Kassian allegedly punched a man in the face around 1:50 a.m. Sunday at a downtown Windsor establishment.

According to police, the man suffered a chipped tooth and a bloody mouth.

Kassian was arrested and released later on Sunday. He is due back in court on July 7 at 9:30 a.m. where he will be arraigned on the charge.

The Sabres selected Kassian in the first round of the 2009 entry draft, taking the forward 13th overall.
