Boston (WKBW.Com) The Buffalo Sabres Quest for the Cup came to an early end on Monday night with a 4-3 loss in Boston. The Sabres lost the best of seven series to the Bruins 4 games to 2.

David Krecji scored twice for Boston, and Tuukka Rask made 27 saves for the Bruins who advance to the second round of the playoffs.

Patrick Kaleta and Nathan Gerbe both scored for Buffalo. Gerbe's goal cut the Bruins lead to 3-2 in the third, but Miroslav Satan scored at 14:49 to give Boston a 2-goal lead.

Thomas Vanek , in his return to action following a ankle injury in game two, scored with 1:13 remaining in the third period to pull the Sabres back within one. That's as close as the Sabres would get.
